Bachelor of Science in Business and Music (BAM)
Unique to American University, the Bachelor of Science in Business and Music degree (BAM) is a four year program designed for students with interests in both music and business. The BAM offers a substantive, exciting and integrated curriculum in business and music that prepares students for a career in the for-profit music sector. Students will complete the AACSB accredited core business program and a core music curriculum under the guidance of the NASM accredited music program.

The BAM degree provides students a strong foundation of theoretical and hands-on coursework. The business core is consistent with the business administration curriculum and provides students with the flexibility of crossing industries. The music core develops the fundamental music awareness necessary for skill development and the musical understanding critical for working with talent in the for-profit music industry. Students who would like to enhance their music related studies (ie performance, audio production) or business studies (ie management, accounting, marketing), or choose opportunities to study abroad and have minors, will utilize the free electives embedded into the curriculum.

Curriculum
The business and music curriculum was intentionally designed with complementary career development courses to provide students with skills and experiences to be successful in the music industry. Students will leverage their academic experience in a series of for-credit internships and have opportunities to share, promote, and expand their experience in their capstone courses. The BAM is administered through the Kogod School of Business. Students will work closely with their academic advisor in Kogod and their faculty advisor in the Department of Performing Arts Music Program.
