Master of Science in Finance and Real Estate
The Master of Science in Finance and Real Estate (MSF&RE) program offers students a rigorous and intellectually sophisticated framework for analyzing decision-making while preparing students to be significant contributors in developing and providing leadership to new and continuing businesses, non-profits, government agencies and other organizations. The program focuses on skill development, particularly with Argus and Excel.
The MSF&RE program allows these individuals to excel in finance positions in areas such as:
- Asset Management
- Mortgage Markets
- Property Management
- Development
- Corporate Finance
The Kogod School of Business takes advantage of our location in the nation's capital, and maintains and actively promotes strong contacts with local professional associations including the Washington, D.C. Association of Realtors, the Appraisal Institute and the secondary mortgage market. Many prominent local real estate developers and professionals are alumni of the program, and the school's benefactor, Robert Kogod, is chair of the Charles E. Smith real estate company.
The program is specially designed for graduating or recently graduated bachelor-degree recipients who wish to develop or enhance technical skills in finance and real estate and professionals in support and/or finance-related positions who wish to cross-train into finance or real estate in order to increase their upward mobility.
Employment opportunities for finance and real estate professionals are substantial. Graduating students target a wide variety of organizations such as investment firms, commercial, development and investment banks, mortgage finance firms, international development organizations (that strongly emphasize financial market development), pension plans, insurance companies, corporations, and more.
