Dean David Marchick and Professor Angela Virtu Were on the Changing Higher Ed Podcast.

Written by Kogod School of Business | August 13, 2024

The episode focuses on the Kogod School of Business's artificial intelligence integration strategy, which infused AI into the entire curriculum over the course of six months.

  • The strategy stemmed from Dean Marchick taking note that more major consulting firms were requiring AI skills in their job descriptions.
  • Kogod developed two types of AI-integrated courses - artisan courses that introduce students to AI concepts relevant to certain topics, and SAGE courses that dedicate over fifty percent of course content to AI education.
  • The success of the strategy depended on decisive action, a cross-disciplinary approach, and investments in faculty development.

Dean Marchick said: "Businesses and other organizations are running as fast as they can to incorporate it and figure it out. And the number of jobs that are going to be available for people that are fluent in AI is going to be staggering."

Professor Virtu said: "I think the thing to really be proud of, from our perspective, is that we’ve gotten the majority of our faculty really excited about this and by doing that every single one of our students, every single semester will probably be taking a course that has some sort of AI in it."
