The Kogod School of Business's Full-Time MBA Is Now a STEM-Designated Program

Written by Anna Morcerf | March 30, 2021

The Kogod School of Business is proud to announce that our full-time MBA is now STEM-designated, a recognition of the program's focus on equipping students with both the technical and leadership skills vital to the US economy.

"STEM MBA programs are designed to develop students' management skills and technical expertise in harmony, producing a new class of future executives who are bilingual in business and tech," says the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).

"I'm happy that the rigor of our MBA curriculum is getting national recognition," says Kogod's dean John Delaney. “The STEM designation lets employers know that our graduates are ready to lead organizations into the future.”

The new designation is also an important announcement for all of our international applicants, as Kogod students can now benefit from an extension to their Optional Practical Training (OPT). Typical OPT allows international students to stay and work in the United States for 12 months after graduating. Because US companies have such a high demand for STEM-trained master's graduates, those who graduate from STEM-designated programs, like Kogod's STEM MBA, are able to apply for a 24-month extension to their OPT, making for a total of 36 months (3 years).

Kogod's Washington, DC, location provides access to nonprofits, government agencies, and thousands of private businesses, including 22 Fortune 500 company headquarters. Join the STEM MBA program that equips leaders with the skills of both today and tomorrow.
