Hemani Marfatia, Kogod ’25, is glad she took the chance. Last year, the international studies and finance major sent a mass note to her fellow AU class of 2025 students searching for potential teammates for an upcoming case competition.
Seeing it as an opportunity to network and gain real-world, hands-on experience analyzing a corporation’s strengths and weaknesses, she couldn’t have anticipated that a single message would lead her to three classmates who would help her think differently, learn lessons in resiliency and ultimately, find a winning formula.
“It changed my career path. It gave me three new best friends,” Marfatia says now. “It’s been absolutely amazing.”
Her elation comes on the heels of her team’s victory in the Kogod School of Business’ recent case competition, hosted on March 3 through a collaboration between the Kogod Office of Career Engagement, the AU Career Center, and Goldman Sachs, one of the most influential financial services firms in the world.
