The study measures “domestic content” as the percentage of parts manufactured in the US or Canada—though federal law doesn’t distinguish between the two when reporting. This means “American-made” here includes vehicles with significant Canadian components.
The 2025 list shows greater volatility than in prior years: supply-chain disruptions, shifting sourcing strategies, tariffs, and trade-policy changes contributed to large content swings among many automakers. For example, some models from previously strong domestic manufacturers fell in ranking as parts sourcing moved abroad.
