Meet Sine Distinguished Lecturer Jamal Mashburn

Jamal Mashburn is the founder and principal of Helen Holdings. A former NBA All-Star with a notable 12-year career spanning the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, and New Orleans Pelicans, Mashburn has evolved into a successful investor, entrepreneur, and business leader. He has strategically assembled top-tier executives and mobilized capital across various sectors, including media, sports and entertainment, tourism and hospitality, real estate, F&B, waste management, and finance. His expertise in financial analysis and international negotiations, particularly within the automotive sector, is well-recognized.

Committed to values of integrity and efficiency, Mashburn excels in fundraising and team development, contributing to the success of his ventures. He serves on the board of Endeavor Miami, advising on technology entrepreneurship, and holds influential board positions in healthcare, marketing, sports, and media. A sought-after speaker at Fortune 500 events, Mashburn is also dedicated to philanthropy, having established the Mashburn Scholarship Fund at the University of Kentucky. Through the MAP Foundation and Mashburn Family Foundation, he supports at-risk youth with mentoring and scholarships. Originally from Harlem, NY, Mashburn holds a Doctorate of Humanities from the University of Kentucky, highlighting his commitment to education and community service.
