Washington, D.C. — American University has named Casey Evans interim dean of the Kogod School of Business, effective July 1, 2026. Evans currently serves as associate dean for undergraduate programs and student services and will assume the role as Dean David Marchick transitions to serve as interim president of American University.
As a member of the Kogod leadership team since 2019, Dean Evans has overseen undergraduate academic programs and student services, including academic advising, global learning, student development, and the Center for Professionalism & Communications. She recently led a comprehensive redesign of Kogod’s undergraduate curriculum to better align with the evolving needs of students and employers, with a particular focus on AI integration, hands-on learning, and the future of work.
Evans is also an award-winning faculty member and Hurst Senior Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Taxation. Before joining academia, she worked in public accounting and forensic consulting, specializing in fraud investigations, financial reporting, and regulatory enforcement matters. A double Eagle, she earned both her BS and MS in Accounting from American University.
“I’m honored to serve as Interim Dean and excited to continue building on the extraordinary momentum at Kogod,” said Evans. “The Kogod community believes deeply in preparing students for what’s next—from learning to build with AI to navigating the future of work. As both a proud alumna and longtime faculty member, I care deeply about this school and the people who make it exceptional.”
“Casey has been instrumental in helping drive Kogod’s momentum over the past several years,” said outgoing Dean David Marchick. “She is a trusted leader, an innovative thinker, and someone deeply committed to our students, faculty, and staff. Casey understands what makes Kogod distinctive, and I am confident the school will continue to thrive under her leadership.”
Under Marchick’s leadership, Kogod launched a major AI-focused transformation, introduced new academic programs and partnerships, and advanced initiatives focused on student outcomes, innovation, and employer relationships. Marchick added that he plans to remain closely connected to Kogod during his time as interim president, particularly in areas including AI partnerships, fundraising, and external engagement.
