American University’s Kogod School of Business and the Veloric Center for Entrepreneurship today announce the launch of the Eagle Venture Seed Fund, LLC (EVSF, or Seed Fund). The Seed Fund is a donor-supported fund created to provide real-life learning opportunities to AU students in identifying, screening, evaluating and investing in promising early-stage companies.
Managed by a diverse team of undergraduate, graduate, and MBA students from American University, the Eagle Venture Seed Fund invests in early-stage companies (pre-seed and seed stage) that are disrupting industries through innovating technology applications such as artificial intelligence, advancing sustainable solutions to address global challenges, or pursuing societal impacts. The fund also provides early-stage companies with financial support, mentorship, and access to an extensive network of advisors to facilitate their growth. The Seed Fund is overseen by the Director of American University’s Veloric Center for Entrepreneurship.
“The launch of the Student-Managed Seed Fund marks another significant step for AU in enhancing experiential learning opportunities for our students,” says Tommy White, Director of the Veloric Center. “Initiating and closing real investment deals will provide an invaluable experience for those students involved."
