Internships are one of the best ways for business school students to practice skills they’ve learned in class, get real-world work experience, and make connections to boost career prospects.
At Kogod, we encourage our undergraduate and graduate students to pursue internships. You might use an internship to break into your dream industry or to explore a career path you’re considering but not completely sure about.
We’ve identified seven market-focused career paths we help students find internships—and eventually, full-time jobs—in:

Types of Internships
Accounting & Taxation Internships
If you’re pursuing a career in accounting and taxation, you may intern first at small to midsize firms, eventually pursuing work at larger firms, including the Big Four. Some of our students pursue public accounting, forensic accounting, international business, and more—and we’ll help them find the experiences to get there.

Analytics Internships
If you’re interested in using data analysis to solve business problems, an analytics internship will allow you to use your technical knowledge and analytic skills in real-world scenarios. You might help a venture capital firm decide where to invest or implement new technologies to make a Fortune 500 company more efficient.

How do I get an internship?
Our Office of Career Engagement helps undergraduate and graduate Kogod students through every step of the process. You can also check out our detailed guide.
- Search: Assess your strengths and interests and search for opportunities that match. Browse publicly available postings and reach out to your network.
- Apply: Polish your résumé and craft a detailed and specific cover letter for each opportunity. Use Kogod's resources and ask trusted friends and mentors to review.
- Interview: Prepare for each interview! Practice on your own and schedule a mock interview.
Once you've been offered and choose to accept an internship, make sure you complete any checklist items from your new employer. You'll also want to make sure you're set up to receive academic credit, if eligible.
