Internships

Internships are one of the best ways for business school students to practice skills they’ve learned in class, get real-world work experience, and make connections to boost career prospects.

At Kogod, we encourage our undergraduate and graduate students to pursue internships. You might use an internship to break into your dream industry or to explore a career path you’re considering but not completely sure about.

We’ve identified seven market-focused career paths we help students find internships—and eventually, full-time jobs—in:

  • Accounting & Taxation
  • Analytics
  • Entertainment
  • Marketing
  • Sustainability
  • Consulting
  • Finance & Real Estate

Because of our location in Washington, DC, we also find many of our students are interested in the intersection of the public and private sectors and choose to pursue government or nonprofit internships.

Types of Internships

Accounting & Taxation Internships

If you’re pursuing a career in accounting and taxation, you may intern first at small to midsize firms, eventually pursuing work at larger firms, including the Big Four. Some of our students pursue public accounting, forensic accounting, international business, and more—and we’ll help them find the experiences to get there.

Our students have recently interned for:

  • EY
  • CohnReznick
  • PwC
  • SEC
  • Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Analytics Internships

If you’re interested in using data analysis to solve business problems, an analytics internship will allow you to use your technical knowledge and analytic skills in real-world scenarios. You might help a venture capital firm decide where to invest or implement new technologies to make a Fortune 500 company more efficient.

Our students have recently interned for:

  • XM Radio

Entertainment Internships

Explore the economic, legal, and business aspects of the entertainment industry. You may intern for an agency, event manager, production company, or more.

Our students have recently interned for:

  • 9:30 Club
  • Rock & Roll Hotel
  • Smith Center for Healing and the Arts
  • SoundExchange
  • Tandem Sports & Entertainment
  • The Creative Mind Group

Marketing Internships

You’ve learned about consumer behavior, market research, brand management, and communication in your courses. See how that knowledge applies in the real world with a marketing internship in nearly any industry.

Sustainability Internships

The business world is more focused on sustainability than ever before. With an internship, you can help companies become more socially responsible or work on proactive solutions to global problems.

Consulting Internships

Consultants help businesses and organizations of every kind solve problems and improve their performance. Find out if this dynamic career is right for you with a consulting internship. You can also learn what it’s like to be part of a real-life interdisciplinary consulting team by participating in one of our pro bono consulting projects.

Finance & Real Estate Internships

If you're interested in a career in finance or real estate, an internship can help you explore your career options, including commercial and international development, mortgage financing, and investment banking.
