The full-time MBA program is designed to prepare forward-thinking business leaders to tackle the world's most pressing challenges. With sustainability integrated into all core credits, the Kogod MBA curriculum equips students with a deep understanding of how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles can drive innovation and success in any business environment.
STEM MBA programs are designed to develop students’ management skills and technical expertise in harmony, producing a new class of executives bilingual in business and tech.
Typically completed in 21 months, with the majority of core courses taken in the first year. Courses are offered throughout the day and evening.

STEM-Designated Program
Kogod's STEM-designated MBA program is designed to develop the management, technical, and business leadership skills you need to thrive in the US economy. The designation also allows international students to apply for a 24-month extension of their Optional Practical Training, granting them the ability to work in the US for up to three years.
Sustainability and Impact
With sustainability integrated into the entire MBA core, you will master sustainability principles across essential business functions such as finance, marketing, and operations. With hands-on projects and real-world case studies, every MBA student learns how to develop sustainable business solutions and enhance corporate responsibility. When you graduate, you will have the leadership skills to prioritize ethical decision-making and sustainable business practices, preparing you to drive meaningful change in any organization.
Global Perspective in a Cosmopolitan City
Our location in Washington, DC, offers networking, internship, and job opportunities in all areas of business. Its vibrant international community exposes you to the international market from day one. Plus, as part of the MBA's international consulting project, you will gain experience working with clients abroad.
Cohort Format
During your studies, you will be part of a cohort—a collaborative learning group. You will join a diverse, close-knit community that will become your network, support system, and an integral part of your education. In 2020, our class was comprised of 44 percent women and 47 percent underrepresented US minority students.
Communication Skills
Top business executives need both hard and soft skills to drive change in organizations. Our program has a robust offering of business communication coursework embedded throughout the curriculum to help you become the most effective leader you can be. They focus on oral communication, listening skills, adaptability, written communication, and presentation skills.
What You'll Learn
Comprehensive Core
The MBA program consists of 45 credit hours. Prior to the start of the program, all students participate in the full-time MBA orientation.
The business core requirements comprise 27 credit hours and give you a solid foundation in accounting, management, statistics, marketing, and other related topics. You will also take introductory and professional skills workshops to help you develop your leadership abilities.
Flexible Experience
The remaining 18 credit hours are devoted to approved elective courses. For the specialized consulting track, choose from a variety of consulting-focused courses based on your interests and experience.
Two of the most pivotal components of the curriculum are the Global Project Experience and the Capstone Project. Both projects place you in real-world situations where you can apply your hard-earned skills.

Global Experience
Work on an international consulting project with other MBA students. Past teams have traveled to countries like China, Colombia, and India to work on projects for Bloomberg, Cisco, Etihad Airways, and local organizations in a wide range of industries.
STEM-Designated Program
STEM-designated programs equip students with technological expertise and leadership skills vital to the US economy. Internships in the Nation's Capital
DC means access to exceptional summer internship opportunities in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Past internships include the Democratic National Committee, FINRA, Indo American Center, Mpower Financing, OP Works, Phone 2 Action, Sirius XM, and more.
Business Leadership Luncheons
We offer weekly private talks with industry leaders and local business executives. Past speakers include senior executives from Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM, Marriott International, Merck, PayPal, and United Way Worldwide.
Case Competitions
Participate in local, regional, and national case competitions under the guidance of Kogod faculty. Showcase your analytical, financial, and strategic skills and expand your professional network.
Sustainability-Focused Capstone Project
The capstone course, KSB-613 Strategic Decision Making, immerses students in real-world consulting projects with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Recent projects include strategizing for an electric vehicle charging company, advancing fair labor practices and social sustainability legislation, and innovating for a sustainable textile company.

Sohaib joins the Kogod community from Lahore, Pakistan, and has a degree in environmental engineering from Lahore’s University of Engineering and Technology. Once he earns his MBA, Sohaib plans to work in consulting, corporate sustainability management, or international development. He chose Kogod to help him get there due to the program’s focus on sustainability, which aligns with his background in the environmental sector. Remy is from Rwanda and holds a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Rwanda’s College of Business and Economics. He has a background in finance, accounting, and auditing and hopes to supplement that experience with an MBA to transition into a strategic management role. Remy was referred to Kogod by a friend and alum and ultimately chose to attend due to the school’s reputation for quality teaching, research, and business partnerships. Leonard comes to Kogod after earning his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Maryland at College Park. He hopes to use his MBA to support a pivot in his career. He chose Kogod for its close-knit, supportive environment and for the opportunity to take classes in the nation’s capital. Rose comes to Kogod from New Canaan, Connecticut, and holds a degree in fashion merchandising from Kent State University. She wants to combine her undergraduate and graduate degrees to work in the sustainable fashion industry but is keeping an open mind about her career options as she works on her MBA. Rose decided to come to Kogod due to its university-wide commitment to sustainability and its tight-knit program, which is a nice change for her after attending a larger school for her bachelor’s degree. Renato is from Atlanta, Georgia, and earned a bachelor’s in international affairs at the University of Georgia. He decided to continue his academic career at Kogod due to its leadership in sustainability, AI, and innovation, its DC location, and the many opportunities for professional development and support. Once he earns his degree, Renato wants to work in the private sector, ideally in social impact and ESG program management. Surbhi joins the Kogod community from Bihar, India, and has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Mumbai. She is transitioning her career from architecture to business, and it was very important for her to choose a school that would have ample resources and support in making the change. She names the Kogod community as the number one reason she chose the school, saying, “I can't begin to emphasize how helpful everyone has been to me throughout the process, be it the admissions team, the alumni, or the current students. Hassan is a Cairo native and an alumnus of the American University in Cairo, where he earned his BA Hons in political science. He aspires to work in private equity and venture capital after earning his MBA at the Kogod School of Business. Why did he choose Kogod? He says, “I’ve had nothing but great experiences with everyone here. Everyone’s extremely helpful and genuine. Katreen joined the Kogod School of Business from Egypt and earned an undergraduate degree in science at Montana State University before pursuing her MBA. She hopes to use her combination of degrees to work in the scientific or medical business field. When asked why she chose Kogod, she said she loves the program, staff, and faculty and admires that it’s DC’s oldest business school. Rosie comes to the Kogod School of Business from her home in Vietnam and has a BSc degree in Finance from American University. Once she completes her MBA, she aspires to work in the financial field to support businesses from Asia. Noor comes to Kogod from the West Bank of Palestine, and is pursuing her MBA in hopes of working in supply chain management. Her plan is to develop smart business strategies for US companies that operate in the Middle East. Why did Noor choose Kogod? She likes its central location in the nation’s capital, the wide opportunities for experiential learning, and the class size - “since the classes are small, students like me can foster meaningful connections with faculty and staff and get one-on-one coaching to help us land internships and jobs,” she says. Onika comes to Kogod from Trinidad & Tobago, and earned her undergraduate degree in civil engineering at Howard University. After getting her MBA, she aims to pivot to consulting or corporate strategy and ultimately to consult for startups and small businesses. She chose to get her MBA at Kogod because of its small class size, the school’s focus on sustainability, and the feeling of support she noted during the admissions process. Shane is from Mesa, Arizona, and earned a BS in aviation at Arizona State University. With his undergraduate degree and his eventual MBA from Kogod, he hopes to launch a company that ethically harnesses AI to end wars. Stefania comes to Kogod from her home country of Italy, where she achieved an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering. Once she earns her MBA, she hopes to work in the venture capital field.
