AU Eagle Angel Network (EAN)

Mission
The Eagles Angel Network (EAN) is dedicated to cultivating a practical, global network of American University community members who are passionate about entrepreneurship, innovation, AI/Tech, and early-stage (angel) investment.
Purpose
EAN brings together like-minded alumni, faculty, students, and friends of American University to form a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and both current and aspiring angel and venture capital investors.
The Network provides a platform to:
- Promote entrepreneurship and innovation, especially in the field of AI
- Educate members about angel investing and early-stage companies
- Communicate new angel investment opportunities
- Offer chances to invest in emerging companies seeking capital
There is no cost to join - we welcome all who share these interests into our collaborative community!
Note: For actual investments, EAN and American University hold no role in agreements or arrangements between investors and entrepreneurs. All investment decisions and agreements are managed independently by the individuals involved, without direct affiliation to the university.
What Is an Angel Investor?
Angel investors are individuals who offer early-stage capital to startups, typically through SAFE agreements, convertible notes, or direct equity investments. Beyond funding, angels often provide valuable mentorship and guidance, introducing founders to business models, offering advice on use cases, helping with pitch or valuation preparation, and opening doors to future opportunities such as follow-on investments or partnerships.
Membership
EAN membership is open to all members of the American University community, including alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends. Accreditation as an angel investor is not required to join — the network values inclusivity and diverse perspectives. In particular, student involvement is encouraged, especially for those working with the student-managed Eagle Venture Seed Fund.
Leadership
The Eagles Angel Network is initially supported by faculty and staff from the Kogod School of Business and the American University Veloric Center for Entrepreneurship. As the community grows, members will have the opportunity to participate in the leadership.
