Why do Business Communication Skills Matter?

Let's look at the importance and value of improving your written and oral communication skills.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers' 2019 Job Outlook, written and oral communication skills are in high demand from prospective employers. But unfortunately, students tend to overestimate their skills in these areas.

As you can see from this graph, almost 80% of students consider themselves to be proficient writers and speakers, but only about 40% of their employers agree. These skills take significant time to develop. It's important that time and attention is spent refining and expanding these skills.

Your professors instruct you and give you the opportunity to practice these emerging skills. But if you want to grow and improve, you need feedback and to revise your work based on that feedback. That's where the CBC comes into play.  We offer constructive and useful guidance and feedback you can use to revise your work and apply to future papers and presentations. Our staff of skilled and trained peer consultants are available to help you at any stage of your process, from brainstorming ideas through final drafts and rehearsals.
