The AU Business Incubator

Elli2

The AU Business Incubator supports graduate and undergraduate students and recent alumni in launching scalable ventures—both for-profit and social impact. The incubator provides selected founders with:

  • One-on-one mentorship

  • Networking and educational opportunities

  • Access to resources and grant funding

  • 24/7 workspace in DMTI (2,000 sq. ft.)

  • Structured guidance through the startup journey

Since its founding in 2014, the incubator has received over 335 applications, accepted 161 ventures (with 32 currently active), and provided extensive mentoring and funding support. Participating startups have collectively generated $10.7 million in revenue and raised $12.3 million in outside investment while in the program or within one year of graduation. The incubator fosters a diverse and inclusive community: the majority of founders are women and/or minorities. The incubator emphasizes experiential learning, accountability, and progress, preparing participants to translate their ideas into sustainable ventures with real-world impact.

Admission to the AU Business Incubator is selective and follows a three-step process:

1. Complete the Application Submission Form

Complete our online Incubator Application Submission Form.

Once the form is submitted, a representative of the Veloric Center Incubator will contact you with information for attending an upcoming Incubator information session.

2. Get Invited to Pitch Your Business Model

If the Veloric Center leadership team feels your business model has merit, you will be invited to make a formal 7-minute presentation about your venture followed by a Q&A session.

The preliminary determination of acceptance into the Veloric Center Incubator is made after the presentation. If you are not accepted, we will provide you with feedback to help you consider a future re-submission. All decisions about acceptance in the Incubator program are made by the Veloric Center leadership team.

3. Attend an Information Session

Attend one of the regularly scheduled Incubator information sessions. In this session, you will learn all about the Incubator program. Recorded sessions are also available.

If accepted, each venture goes through a 90-day probationary period where the Veloric Center leadership team works with the venture to set up initial benchmarking metrics. If the venture successfully completes the probationary period, the venture is then accepted for 1 year, with renewal years available on achieving further benchmarks.
