Kogod School of Business
U.S. News & World Report has ranked the Kogod full-time MBA No. 46 nationally—the highest ranking in the school's history. The 76-spot climb is the largest four-year sustained rise in the ranking's dataset. But the latest numbers and noted rise are evidence of a deliberate institutional transformation. Kogod is also ranked in the top 50 by Bloomberg Businessweek and QS and has received top 10 rankings in sustainability and entrepreneurship.
Over the past four years, Kogod has rebuilt its curriculum through infusions of AI, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and "power skills"—professionalism, communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills. The school also reimagined its Career Development and Industry Engagement functions, improving both student outcomes and employer satisfaction.
The dramatic rise in Kogod's rankings demonstrates our students' excellence, as well the momentum our faculty and staff have created by infusing AI, sustainability, an entrepreneurial mindset, and power skills throughout all of our programs."
David Marchick
Dean, Kogod School of Business
"While it is deeply satisfying to move up, we know that rankings remain an imperfect measure of a school's true impact. Students face a very challenging job market. A degree's impact shouldn't be measured by their first job or their first salary three months after graduation but by the value it creates over a lifetime,”said Dean Marchick.
Recognition of Kogod’s momentum has come from multiple directions: Bloomberg called Kogod the first AI-first business school; Poets&Quants recognized it as best in class for AI; and the Wall Street Journal featured on the front page Kogod’s AI initiative among other top business schools.
Kogod has infused AI throughout all of its programs and offers an AI major, an AI minor, an AI graduate degree, and AI microcredentials that signal AI fluency to hiring managers. More than 90% of Kogod faculty now use AI in their teaching. Axios and Anthropic have both reported that Washington, D.C. leads the nation in AI adoption—and Kogod graduates are positioned to meet that demand.
The numbers aren't the interesting part. It's what's actually happening in the classrooms."

Students also benefit from the broader American University ecosystem and its extensive connections to the DC job scene. AU recently announced that every undergraduate will have access to a $4,500 resource for a funded internship or research experience—a direct investment in career readiness for all students that works hand-in-hand with Kogod's outcomes-driven approach.
Behind those outcomes is a network of 25,000+ alumni leading Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, global institutions, nonprofits, and startups, in the DC area and around the world.
Our focus remains squarely on building programs with positive career outcomes. From transforming our curriculum around AI to deepening our employer partnerships, we are preparing graduates to thrive in whatever field they choose to pursue."
