Professor Octavian Ionici was Featured in a Finance Buzz Article

Professor Ionici's comments appear in "Streaming Inflation: How Streaming Prices Have Changed Over the Years 2024."

The article explored the costs of streaming services in the twenty years since they first launched.

  • Netflix's monthly fees have nearly doubled since 2011 and 2013, the years that their standard and premium subscriptions respectively launched.
  • Hulu was the first streaming service to launch in 2007, and the only one that was free at launch.
  • Amazon Prime Video is the only streaming service to not change its price since launch.

Professor Ionici said: "To manage entertainment service expenses effectively, individuals should establish a clear entertainment budget, reviewing it monthly to ensure that the streaming services they pay for are still justified. For instance, if a family plan is no longer necessary due to changes in household composition, downgrading to a smaller plan can save money."
