The BAE program at Kogod offers an undergraduate major that blends business fundamentals with hands-on entertainment industry experience and is guided by industry-connected leadership in Washington, DC. Under director Linda Bloss‑Baum, the program leverages its DC location, deep industry ties, and real-world immersive learning to prepare students for creative business careers.

The BAE program is not just a certificate or elective: it’s a full degree track within the business school that combines standard business courses (accounting, finance, IT) with a specialized entertainment curriculum.
-
Students engage in real-world experiential learning: trips to entertainment hubs (like Austin for SXSW, New York, Los Angeles, Nashville), guest speakers from the industry, and on-campus projects such as producing an annual live concert.

The program is expanding to reflect today’s industry demands: new tracks (sports management and AI in entertainment) are being added in response to student interest and evolving business-entertainment intersections.
“When I came back as an adjunct, I was really drawn to returning to campus. It was the greatest experience of my life to go to American University,” says Kogod professor Linda Bloss-Baum.
