The article reports that emerging business leaders are increasingly using AI not just to prep for big-ticket deal negotiations but also to help navigate everyday interactions, highlighting how AI tools are becoming a core part of modern professional communication and readiness.

  • Future business leaders—including students at Kogod School of Business—are increasingly using AI tools to prepare for both major negotiations and routine interpersonal interactions, extending the utility of AI beyond just high-stakes deals.

  • AI chatbots (like ChatGPT and other platforms) are being used as “practice partners” to role-play negotiations, test arguments, challenge assumptions, and help sharpen strategic thinking—tasks that traditionally required a human counterpart.

  • The value of AI in this context isn’t just convenience: it allows individuals to simulate multiple scenarios, explore different responses, spot blind spots, and build a kind of “mental rehearsal” toolkit—potentially giving them a strategic edge in real-world negotiations and everyday communication.

“I want my students to think about how these tools can help them to prepare for a negotiation, how they can help them practice their negotiations, and how they can support them when they’re stuck in negotiations," says Mislin.
