Kogod School of Business
The Kogod Sustainability Review (KSR) is a bi-annual student-run publication focusing on today’s critical issues in sustainability. KSR gathers research and insights from students and community members across AU, as well as from guest writers from a variety of industries. As the publication prepares its sixth issue, we’re excited to highlight the editorial team that works behind the scenes to make it happen.

Maeve Davis (Kogod/MSSM ’25) is the Co-Editor-In-Chief at the KSR after previously working as the communucations manager last spring. Her passion lies in conservation, urban planning, and environmental justice. She believes that education and community are the most vital tools we have in pursuing a sustainable future. Outside of work, Maeve enjoys yoga, fiction books, sweet treats, and horror movies.

Rebecca Owen (Kogod/MSSM ’25) is the Co-Editor-In-Chief at the KSR after first being a student contributor for volume 4 and then joined the KSR staff as an editor for volume 5. She has a background in environmental justice and throughout grad school has gained experience in government relations and B Corp consulting. In her free time she enjoys playing guitar, playing soccer, hiking, and learning Spanish.

Jheelum Sarkar (CAS ’27) is a third-year PhD student in Economics at American University. She is taking on the role of Managing Editor this semester after being an Editor for KSR for the past 2 years. She is currently working in Applied microeconomics and labor economics. Her current research explores how changing nature of work impact women’s employment in low-income settings. She has also received the 4th Barbara Bergmann Graduate Fellowship for Gender Research in 2024. Her recent publication discusses the role of social norms in shaping gendered migration decisions. She is very passionate about sustainable development and innovation. Jheelum spends her free time reading books, watching old movies, experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, and staying updated on current trends in economics literature.
Previously, she completed her MPhil and MA at the Centre for International Trade and Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. Her M.Phil. dissertation investigated the causal impact of extreme climate events on household well-being in mountain and coastal hotspots of India. She also holds a B.Sc. in Economics from Lady Brabourne College, University of Calcutta, India.

Grace Bianco (Kogod/MSSM ’26) is working in the Communications & Promotion role at KSR, where she drives engagement through the journal’s digital presence and promotional efforts. With a background in sales and client success, she’s now channeling her passion for sustainability into a career in corporate sustainability, leveraging strong communication to advance green initiatives. Grace is a digital nomad who enjoys exploring new cities and visiting national parks along the way.

Candace Chandra (WCL) joins the KSR this semester as an Editor. She is a visiting law student at WCL, and fulltime law student at the University of Mississippi Law School, where her interests are Space Law, Natural Resources Law, and Tax & Technology Law. Prior to entering law school, Candace was an executive at nonprofits in the health and food sectors, and an entrepreneur in water finance.

Beverly Popoola (Kogod/MSSM ’26) is excited to contribute to the KSR as an Editor. She brings experience in sustainability consulting, energy communications, and ESG strategy, with a focus on renewable energy and corporate climate resilience. Beverly is passionate about the intersection of business, policy, and environmental justice. Outside of academics and work, she enjoys volunteering and spending time taking in new experiences from traveling to floral arrangement classes.

Renato Belouche (MBA ’26) is an Editor for the Kogod Sustainability Review, where he assists in reviewing and refining articles on emerging sustainability issues in business and policy. He is pursuing master’s degrees in Business Administration and Sustainability Management at American University. With prior experience in sustainability consulting and international development, Renato’s work focuses on advancing corporate sustainability, clean energy strategy, and systems-level change. In his free time, he enjoys blending his love for storytelling and culture through live music, cooking, and spontaneous nature adventures.
