Professor Caroline Bruckner was Featured in a Newsweek article.

Professor Bruckner's comments appear in "Donald Trump and Kamala Harris Both Want to Change Your Taxes. Here's How."

The article compared the tax policies of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris as the 2024 presidential election approached and Trump's 2017 tax cuts were set to expire.

  • By the end of 2025, Congress will need to determine which parts of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act should expire and which should be renewed.
  • Trump said that if elected he would extend the tax cuts, as well as removing taxes on tips and Social Security benefits and cutting the corporate tax rate.
  • Harris, meanwhile, would keep the tax cuts in place for Americans making under $400,000 annually, raise taxes for wealthier Americans, and implement a lower long-term capital gains tax.

Professor Bruckner said: "There is no question that tax legislation will be top of mind for Congress and the next president in 2025. With the looming expiration of the Trump tax cuts, both parties will have to come together to find a deal or face the voters' wrath."
