Professor Julie Anderson was Interviewed by The Epoch Times

Professor Anderson's comments appear in "ESG and DEI Are Down but Not Out, Analysts Say."

The article discussed recent rollbacks of ESG and DEI policies among large corporations and what it means for the future of these policies going forward.

  • Though the ESG movement began in earnest in 2004, many companies have since suspended or downsized their programs to support climate risk reduction and social justice.
  • Despite this, many analysts believe that the core tenets of these programs will continue both in companies and in general.
  • Though 'ESG' as a term has been politicized, the ideas behind it enjoy enduring support at the business level.

Professor Anderson said: “DEI is not a synonym for the ‘S’ in ESG. When I refer to the ‘S,’ it’s usually labor, health, and human rights. Politics has intentionally conflated and stolen the ‘S’ category and turned it into a gender and racial issue, which is a fraction of what it really is.”
