Professor Kelli Frias was Interviewed by DC News Now

Professor Frias' interview was featured on Yahoo in the article "White House Strikes Deal to Cut Drug Prices, How to Save."

The article discussed the Biden administration's deal with drug companies to bring down various drug prices and what the deal means for consumers.

  • Price reductions for ten of Medicare's costliest drugs will go into effect in 2026.
  • While waiting for these reductions to go into effect, many Americans turn to retailers like Amazon and Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drug Company, which offer steep discounts on medication.
  • Buying medication in bulk is also an option to cut costs, but requires a discussion with a doctor.

Professor Frias said of the option to purchase medication online: “Who is managing the overall care for that patient? I mean, if we start to think about a patient’s entire medical record, what does that mean for drug interactions, what does that mean for other possible predispositions, maybe pre-diabetes or other medical components? I think that conversation needs to happen with their medical provider."
