Professor Steven Teitelbaum was Featured in a Washington Post Article

Professor Teitelbaum's comments appear in "Trump Administration Makes Hundreds of Federal Properties Available For Sale."

The article discussed the Trump administration's decision to sell hundreds of federally-owned properties as part of efforts to reduce the size of the federal government.

  • 443 buildings across the country were deemed 'not core to federal operations' per a list released by the General Services Administration.
  • However, the list was first reduced and then taken down entirely, with the GSA releasing a statement that they would re-release the list at a later date.
  • Though some officials in DC are excited by the opportunity to repurpose underutilized federal buildings, the scale of the operation is likely to pose challenges.

Professor Teitelbaum said: "[The federal effort to dispose of property] could be good news for the city if the properties that are currently tax-exempt become privately owned and get added back to the tax rolls.”
