Kogod School of Business
The Kogod Business and Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame was established to celebrate AU alumni who have made meaningful impact and notable contributions across their careers. This prestigious honor is reserved for business leaders and entrepreneurs who embody the innovative, entrepreneurial spirit and the drive that Kogod seeks to inspire in all its graduates. In 2024, inaugural inductee Robert Kogod was named to the Hall of Fame, representing exceptional achievement in both business and entrepreneurship.
In 2025, American University’s Constitution Hall hosted perhaps the most powerful and successful group of leaders ever assembled on campus, outside of welcoming a president of the United States. The latest honorees are distinguished AU alumni that exemplify and underscore common themes of success: a great education paired with grit, determination, and perseverance. Each of the six inductees has a career story that highlights not only their professional accomplishments but also the transformative student experiences that shaped their paths at American University.

There are many reasons this award is special to me. The first is because of my love of my alma mater and the impact AU has had on my life and my career. Another reason is to set an example for my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It’s important for them to know the importance of getting involved, giving back, and being a leader.”

You come out of high school with a completely regimented life...When I got to AU, it would have been easy to sleep until noon, but I found people here that made me focus on what I wanted to do, where I wanted to go, and how I was going to reach the things I aspired to.”

Gary D. Cohn
I started my business with $150 dollars. I never thought the journey I started at that time could ever evolve into a multi-national company...had I known, maybe I would have started by putting in $250 dollars!”

Michael Rosenberg
Today marks a personal milestone and a reminder of the incredible journey that brought me here. I was born to a middle-class family in Washington, DC, not far from here, where hard work was not an option—it was a way of life.”

Steve Shapiro
For me, AU was a journey of self-discovery. I remember I used to get the course catalogue and thought it was the most amazing menu in a great restaurant where you could choose from almost anything. It was an opening into a brand-new world.”
